I have recently been working on one of our new projects, and I needed to have my own copy of our system with full functionality. The changes made by me would affect the whole system so my workmates couldn’t work on their features then.
Although every respectful development company uses version control systems, typically every change is made to main repository – then every developer can be up to date and they can work on the same project. But sometimes – as in my case – your changes are going too deep to work on the same repository. Here branching comes in. It is used globally in any version control system. It allows you to create branches that are (depends on system) independent copies of HEAD (or another branch) created from one particular commit in main repository.
It didn’t take Google long to follow into Facebook footsteps and change the look of their social website. Unlike Facebook, the change was not as drastic and didn’t leave an unprepared profile looking plain. Still, an updated look meant some redecorating on our (the PayLane’s) part.
Google offered two possible looks of the site: one involved a long cover picture and the other offered a chopped version, composing of five small squared pictures. At first, the first option seemed to be a good idea, but soon proved to be rather tricky. The chopped version was much more interesting to design.
After Magento’s integration PayLane has now released an osCommerce plugin which allows online payment processing.
osCommerce, just like Magento, is an e-commerce solution that allows setting up an online store with a wide range of features. The success of osCommerce can be assigned to active and evergrowing community.
PayLane add-on allows to integrate with payment processor. Installation is very simple – just download the package from http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/8394 , unzip it and move directly to your osCommerce installation folder! It’s nothing new that celebrities and adverts go together. A famous face is not only a matter of increased sales, but also the image of a brand. If I asked you to name the biggest celeb-magnet, you’d probably say Pepsi. I’m sure you all remember Britney Spears and Spice Girls singing about how amazing Pepsi is (too bad the former one was photographed buying Coca-Cola afterwards!) or David Beckham doing incredible tricks thanks to one sip of the drink. Although these names are big (and by big I do mean BIG), they are also spokespersons for other brands, including Toyota, Candie’s, lollipops, McDonald’s, Tesco, deodorants, crisps, H&M, Sainsbury’s (yes, we’re still talking just about Britney, Spice Girls and Becks!), which decreases their value and credibility as an ad star.
