Good practices of software development process
It’s quite normal to think that each line of code written by you is perfectly good. Unfortunately, I have to upset you – you’re wrong. Every developer makes bugs, but not all developers know how to prevent them. I think there’s no need to explain how important it is to create safe and bug-free software in payment processing. Apparently, it seems that good solutions that help to avoid bugs, seem to use the unittest framework – a module that’s available for most popular programming languages like PHP, Python, Java, C#, C++.
What you need to know about AVS
The Address Verification System (or simply AVS) is a method for merchants to verify the identity of a customer who uses a credit card.
AVS is an excellent way to reduce the risk of fraud and increase the payment gateway’s security. In other words, it checks that a customer is the cardholder he claims to be and finally – it decreases the number of chargebacks.
NFC – hot or not?
The NFC, is the hottest technology… since the previous hot technology. It was developed to help people to communicate and share information on very (very!) small range. But is it just yet another information sharing technology? Well, yeah, but it’s not the technology itself that counts in this case, but all the companies standing behind it.
5 ways to use your Kindle at work
Unless you write book reviews for a living, it may be not easy to imagine how to use your e-reader in everyday work. An iPad (or any other tablet) would do better, right? But assuming that you write or read anything at work, Kindle is the perfect solution to make it easier and healthier for your eyes. And it’s distraction-free.
Here are some of my ideas how to make amazon’s e-reader really useful.
Card number from a photo
How many times have you had to type a credit card number when you wanted to pay for something? It’s painful, isn’t it? 16 digits one by one, then check for mistakes… next payment: once again, 16 digits one by one, etc.
Card.io is a solution for everyone who’s tired of putting the whole credit card number again and again.
How to get organized using only one tool
Are you still checking out new tools in order to find the perfect one, which will organize your work and improve productivity? If so, then I might have just the thing for you. It’s simple, looks nice, you can use it both on your computer and mobile device, it doesn’t consume your time and is very flexible. Sounds almost like too good to be true, doesn’t it?
I’ve been trying to find a decent app for a pretty long time and none would completely fit my needs. Project management tools were just too big and simple todo lists were… to simple. And it was usually faster to write down a todo list on a piece of paper than to use any of those apps. But when I learned about priority matrix, I felt that it could be pretty close to what I was looking for. And that’s how I found Sandglaz.
Bump – useful technology or another redundant service?
Bump – a small application for iOS and Android devices which allows quick and simple information exchange. But how does it really work and what’s so special about it?
The idea is simple: we just need 2 phones (or iPods, tablets etc.) and some information to exchange. A well known scheme, but wait for it… cause here comes magic! You get some cool technology, which comes with a special application on your mobile device.
