Across the Board

Blog on e-business and online payments.

Be Careful Of Scam

ScammersScam and scammers are something that we need to fight with almost each day. Unfortunately it’s one of the worst plagues of our industry. How many times did you receive an e-mail with a request to change the password in some kind of e-wallet service (such as PayPal)? How many times were you asked to do something in your bank account? To have it done you just needed to click on some link in the email and put your login and password in a login form. Simple. But fake.

Those websites look similar to the original ones. But they are not. Once you put your login and password – these credentials will be stored in scammer’s database.

How To Make Women Trust You

Only 6.8% women trust online payments. This is the conclusion that Marzena Feldy, a PhD at Warsaw School of Economics, has come to. She analyzed a group of young people aged 18 to 34 as to their online shopping behavior. The research included both men and women but let us concentrate on women for the moment.

According to the research, women consider e-shopping too technical. Websites loaded with masses of products have been shown to cause information stress among women. It also turns out that women find contact with a shop assistant indispensable. They want to be sure that goods can be returned easily. Women also consider e-shopping boring. Surprised? Here is why. The interviewees claim that while shopping online they lack interaction with friends. There is no one around to discuss, advise or help make the final decision.

Secure Form gets a makeover

First, a few words of explanation: when a client wants to purchase something from merchant’s website, he or she needs to fill in the special form, specify the payment method and validate the address. Some merchants had designed their own forms. For those who did not, PayLane has always had a form prepared. But recently, we have decided it’s time to have it refreshed.

The changes are visible at first glance: the design underwent a severe make-over, the green boxes are gone and everything fits a single form. Company details can be found in the top right-hand corner of the form: the merchant can customize this area with his or her logo and, naturally, company details.

It’s the “what” and not the “how”… Or is it?

Running a website or a blog has never been easier and more accessible. There’s WordPress, Blogger, Livejournal, Tumblr. Thanks to such user-friendly and simple websites, every day thousands of new online blogs are created and anyone can become a blogger. The question is – should they?

I’m not talking about sites run by teens testing make up or personal journals for a distant family abroad, but about resourceful, opinion-forming sites that actually want to matter. Unfortunately, it seems that many of them (without pointing any fingers), focus all their attention on the quantity of posts and not the quality. Of course, the topic of the blog is important, but so are the grammar and spelling.

How to Use Recurring Payments – Case Study of Sotrender.

Recurring payments, known also as recurring billings or subscriptions, is a mechanism that processes payments for all kinds of repetitive transactions. This payment method allows e-businesses to collect money from customers’ card, bank account or PayPal account. Once the client agrees, payment is initiated regularly at set time intervals.

How recurring payments work

Your client has to create an account on your website and order your service. When it comes down to the payment process they fill out the payment form, with the card or bank account data (such as card or bank account number, card expiration date, cardholder name, CVV etc.) or are sent to their PayPal account. Data are collected when clients create an account on an e-business website or after the trial version’s expiration. This is also the moment when you ask your clients for permission to collect recurring payments.

After first processed transaction you receive from PayLane your transaction ID. After 30 days or any other payment period, your system, through PayLane API, makes the next payment. To do it, there is no need to ask the payer to enter card or bank account data once again. The payment takes place using the transaction ID from the first purchase and transaction amount, which can be changed, so if your clients upgrades their account there is no need to ask him again for permission.
